Re-Elect Debby Szeredy for Executive Vice President
In 1973 I was an Activist in the Retail Clerks Union right out of High School, on the strike line for 6 weeks in Simi Valley, CA.
In 1976 I was fired for handing out union authorization cards on the job at a School for physically and mentally challenged Children in Arizona.
My postal career started in 1977, Arizona State President at 24 years old, steward, Arbitration Advocate and was mentored by Moe Biller. 1989 I was the First Woman Local President of Phoenix Metro 2600 members, Western Regional Coordinator for APWU/POWER. In 2008 I became the Mid-Hudson Area Local, First Woman President representing a plant under consolidation with an additional 124 Associate Offices, in New York, and Vice President of the NY Hudson Valley Area Federation, AFL-CIO, working in NY for over 22 years.
I became the first woman elected to the position of National Executive Vice President in 2013 and have held the position for the last 12 years. The position includes participation as a National Core Negotiating Team member for APWU’s National Agreement. In my position I also assisted in the fight against consolidations and closures, and provide and teach mobilizing programs for APWU Locals and States. The latest project involves helping Locals and States to build strong active members and building community power in our struggle to continue to Save the People’s Postal Service. For many years I’ve worked to help provide a better work environment, free from discrimination including successful wins in the EEO, OWCP, and the grievance/arbitration arena. I have mentored many new activists over the years and have truly been influenced and inspired by God to continue to serve and commit my life to our Union Worker Movement. This is the APWU Leadership Team 2025, I have been waiting for! Miracles do happen!
Every person on this team is what we need in this privatization fight. Real Solidarity, Real Compassion, Strong Voices for our members and our communities. We all believe in the vision to improve and take leadership actions together, that will produce the needed changes: better communications, strategies that locals and states are involved in, education, both for our membership and our communities that will inspire you to make a difference in your working lives to provide services that you can be proud of and where we grow and value our Union rights and benefits as a Union Family.
Stand with Us, Vote for our APWU Leadership Team 2025 because your lives do depend on it!
