Re-Elect Judy Beard for Legislative Political Director

I am proud to have served as your APWU National Legislative and Political Director since 2016 and have been a strong and successful advocate for protecting the jobs and benefits of active and retired postal workers.  I am seeking your support for reelection to this position in the upcoming 2025 national APWU election.

Despite a very polarizing political climate, the APWU has won significant legislative victories during my tenure.  From paid COVID leave at the height of the pandemic, to the passage of Postal Reform, and our recent victory with the Social Security Fairness Act (to name a few key accomplishments), we achieved legislative feats that many thought impossible in this time of extreme partisanship.  The Legislative and Political Department, under my leadership, has worked diligently to ensure we not only continue to build a broad bipartisan coalition of lawmakers, but to ensure that the APWU membership has the tools and resources they need to stay engaged in the legislative process.

Today, we are at a critical crossroads for the public Postal Service.  Privatizers are making the case for drastic changes to the structure and independence of the USPS.  We fought this fight during the first Trump administration and were successful in galvanizing the public and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to push back against these attempts.  I was proud to lead the APWU’s national anti-privatization campaign at that time, and continue to work with our national executive board, local/state presidents, and the membership to once again beat back these attempts to sell off the Postal Service.

I am asking for your vote to continue to serve as your Legislative and Political Director during the 2025 APWU national election. Together, we can use our growing momentum of legislative victories, our bipartisan coalition of support, labor and community allies, and our engaged membership to protect our jobs and benefits, the public Postal Service, and secure economic and civil justice for our members and their families.

We respectfully seek your assistance, support,
and vote in the upcoming 2025
APWU National Election of Officers.
