Re-Elect Joyce B. Robinson for Research and Education Director

Joyce B. Robinson is a proud member of the APWU Leadership Team 2025 and is seeking your support for re-election as the Director of APWU’s Research and Education Department.  She is a fierce, dedicated, and experienced leader, who has devoted her life to fighting for equal opportunities for all postal workers.  Joyce takes pride in being an outstanding Director of the Research and Education Department and was educated at Hampton University, University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Under Joyce B. Robinson’s leadership, the department has thrived, developing comprehensive training material and highly regarded educational conferences and programs, training tens of thousands of officers, shop stewards, and members nationwide through shop steward and arbitration training, leadership development, local negotiations, representation during interrogation by the OIG/Postal Inspection Service, coping with stress, sexual harassment, parliamentary procedure, and thousands of seminars and workshops.  Over 2/3 of the current APWU National Officers have been trained by Joyce.

Her resume is quite impressive.  Always a trailblazer, Joyce was the first woman elected as a resident officer in Washington, D.C. and was appointed three terms to the prestigious National Congressional Democratic Women’s Resource Committee, joining Linda Chavez-Thompson, Executive Vice President of the AFL-CIO, as one of only two union women serving on this committee during that time.  In 2008, Joyce was elected President of the Women’s Committee of Union Network International Global Union (UNI) in the Americas, becoming the first woman from the United States of America to hold this position representing 179 unions and 3.5 million union members throughout the Americas

She is a guiding force behind Post Office Women for Equal Rights, APWU POWER, and is currently serving as national liaison to the APWU POWER Steering Committee.  Joyce has assisted in opening doors of opportunities for women and men from across the country.  She firmly believes that “A Woman’s Place is in Her Union” and realizes that it takes both Union sisters and brothers working together to protect Postal jobs and benefits.

APWU President Emeritus William Burrus established the “APWU National Leadership Award” in honor of Joyce B. Robinson, its first recipient, for her outstanding leadership abilities and contributions to APWU.  Joyce’s favorite slogan is, “If you can’t run with the big dogs stay on the porch.”  One thing is for sure, she is one tough lady!

The future of the Postal Service is at stake.  The APWU Leadership Team 2025 is composed of a diverse team of candidates, who are dedicated and committed to improving working conditions, providing a safer and healthier working environment, and securing a better standard of living for APWU members and their families.  We cannot make these changes alone.  The APWU Leadership Team 2025 needs your support and your vote, to accomplish our mutual goals.

Joyce takes this opportunity to thank each APWU member for the confidence that you have placed in her over the years. It has been her honor and a blessing to serve the membership!

Joyce B. Robinson, Candidate for Research and Education Director

We respectfully seek your assistance, support,
